Taking bicycle helmet protection forward is not a simple task. Modern helmets need to balance protection with the things riders notice on every ride, including weight, airflow, comfort, fit, and overall performance.

Lazer approached that challenge by developing KinetiCore, an integrated system designed as part of the helmet from the beginning.


1. Integrated Impact Protection

One of the biggest differences with KinetiCore is that the impact protection technology is built directly into the helmet's EPS structure.

This allows the helmet to be designed as a complete system rather than adding a separate rotational-impact liner after the core structure is finished.

The result is a more integrated approach to protection, ventilation, weight, fit, and comfort.

2. Designed to Manage Direct and Rotational Impact Forces

Bicycle crashes can involve a combination of direct and rotational forces.

Direct forces occur when the helmet strikes a surface more squarely, while rotational forces can occur when the helmet hits at an angle and the head experiences a twisting or turning motion.

KinetiCore uses engineered EPS structures called Controlled Crumple Zones that are designed to deform during certain impacts and help manage energy within the helmet.

These structures are integrated into each helmet design rather than added as a separate layer.

Once prototypes are produced, Lazer uses in-house impact testing as part of the development process alongside the certification requirements applicable to each helmet.

Because KinetiCore is integrated into the helmet's EPS, Lazer engineers have more freedom to optimize the complete helmet structure.
