She leads Dirt Squad, a collective of riders focused on inclusivity, adventure, and fun on two wheels. Whether organizing group rides, mentoring new cyclists, or exploring new routes, Crystal brings the same energy and connection to every ride, now made even stronger with the Lazer VeloVox.
The Lazer VeloVox, powered by Cardo, is changing what’s possible when it comes to communication on the bike. By combining Bluetooth® and cellular connectivity, it allows riders to talk, listen to music, and stay connected, whether you’re across town or across the country.

Unlike traditional jawbone headphones that focus on solo listening, the VeloVox is built for real-time group connection, with advanced wind and noise-canceling technology that keeps every word clear, even at speed.
“So why do I need this?”
I was asked that as soon as I posted about the VeloVox.
Need? No, you don’t need it.
But let me explain why you’ll want it.
The Lazer VeloVox has completely changed how I think about communication on the bike. We all know jawbone-style headphones let us listen to music safely while still hearing the road around us, but VeloVox is different.
It’s given me the ability to ride remotely with friends. Every day, I take a lunch ride with my crew. That’s not unusual, except we live all across the United States. We send a quick “rolling out” photo, ride for an hour, and then compare notes afterward while geeking out over our data.
When I heard that VeloVox could let us actually talk while riding, I was intrigued. How could this change our sense of community on the bike, even when separated by thousands of miles?

Connected Like Never Before
Since the launch, we’ve been kitting up, clipping in, and heading out with our Lazer helmets and VeloVox units. Using our cellular data, we can now communicate in real time. Yes, you read that right, riders in Wisconsin, California, Ohio, and New Hampshire talking to each other as if we were side by side.
Think of it as a Zoom call for your bike rides. The Cardo technology filters out wind noise even at 20 mph, eliminates heavy-breathing sounds on climbs, and still lets you listen to music when no one’s talking.
The Future of Team Communication
I can already see how this will benefit my team, Dirt Squad. In the future, we could come to events with VeloVox-equipped Lazer helmets and easily communicate between the lead, mid-pack, and sweep riders, no matter how large the group.
That means better coordination, safety, and connection for every rider involved.
So, back to the original question:
Do you need it? No.
Will you want it? Absolutely YES.
